Seppo Hovi’s path to becoming a professional musician began in the youth section of the Sibelius Academy. After years of accompaniment bands with Danny, Kirka and
Katri-Helena and years of teaching, he remained a freelancer. Television made
his personality known through the programmes Seppo Hovi seurassa and Bumtsibum, which also won
several Venla Awards and a Koura Honorary Award. Together with Lasse Lehtinen, he has produced programmes for television and
radio about the emotions and events of the war and reconstruction.
He has worked a lot with various singers as a pianist-presenter for entertaining concerts or
conducting an orchestra. He has been named Speaker of the Year and has been awarded a
recognition award by the Musicians’ Union.
In 2012 he was awarded the title of Music Councillor and in 2020 he was awarded the Pro
Finlandia Medal.

The music of Sami Saari and the Jazzpojat band is ear-catching and danceably swinging jazz and soul from here and elsewhere. Saari, known as a grassroots cultivator a of Finnish soul music, has always been a jazzman at heart and has therefore put together an ensemble where the strong solism and unfailing swing of the Jazzpojat combine forces with a charismatic soloist. Saari´s inventive and evocative Finnish-language lyrics will bring identification surface for everyone!

It will soon be 60 years since my first exhibition. Throughout my life I have experimented
with almost every technique related to art. After the first couple of decades, I fell in love
with watercolour and the many and varied challenges it presents. Whenever colour meets
water, the end result is fascinatingly surprising
I know that in my life I have never been able to create a watercolour that meets
my expectations, but I will try again. For the past three years, the brushes and paints have been
gathering dust in a drawer, never to be used again.
What happened? A new vision, a new desire, a new hope for the future. Now it’s real as the flowering butterflies
fly to the Aittas in Porvoo. Welcome to see my latest watercolour series My brush has not
yet been silenced. My daughter Kaisa Siven with her flower watercolours will also be part of the exhibition.

Lonkero & lonkero -päivänä juhlitaan sekä mustekalan lonkeroita Ranta-Aitan klassikkoannoksessa että Helsinki Distilling Companyn maankuuluja long drinkkejä ja juomasekoituksia. Tietysti parhaan live-musiikin tahtiin.

Lämpimästi tervetuloa Ranta-Aittaan lauantaina 7.8.2021 maistelemaan ja fiilistelemään. Sekä nostamaan malja kunniakkaaseen ikään ehtineelle Porvoolle. Ohjelma alkaa heti puoliltapäivin ja tapahtumaan on vapaa pääsy.
